Bianco Lasa – 2182

Bianco Lasa is considered one of the hardest marbles in the world. The quarry is set inside the mountain near the town of Lasa in the Southern Tyrol in northern Italy. Down from the quarry is the quarry of Bianco Covelano, which produces similar looking material, although the production has to stop in winter as the quarry is outside. This is not the case for Bianco Lasa. So combined with good supply and a very hard marble, which is frost resistant, suitable for pool linings, and external cladding, worktops and bathrooms. This material should be used more prolifically than it is. There are many selections from the quarry, and with each selection, you can cut the block in 2 ways, so the looks of each block can vary greatly once produced. Giving versatility in design. The marble has a fine crystalline white background with blueish greys with lovely cream, brown and golden veins. Some blocks can be fairly plain white, with grey veins, and other with more golden brown colours. The price is sensible for a locally sourced European marble and really should be considered if looking for an alternative to the more expensive materials from Carrara such as Calacatta or Statuary.
