The world of marble is vast and varied. From Italy to India, marble is sourced from all over the globe, providing designers and homeowners with a huge range of colours and patterns to choose from. Whilst the classic white marbles that can be found in Italy may be the first thing that comes to mind, more colourful and statement pieces are being increasingly favoured by homeowners and designers the world over to make bold and unique statements within interiors.
Here at Cullifords, we pride ourselves on our unparalleled selection of marbles. Whether for a kitchen worktop, a bathroom feature wall or an outdoor statement, our team is able to source the exact piece required for your project. Let’s take a look at just a selection of the marbles we have in our stone yard…
Beautiful & Detailed Marble
As the saying goes, it’s all in the detail! One of the beautiful things about marble is that it is a natural stone, and as a result, the detailing and veining that appears on the surface of each slab is unique to that piece – no one piece will be the same!
A popular marble thanks to its pared-back colourings of cream, grey and gold, Avalanche is a hard Brazilian marble suitable for a number of different applications, from kitchen worktop islands to bathroom vanity units. It’s the perfect balance of making a statement but in a sophisticated colourway; a truly luxurious marble choice.
A similar aesthetic can be achieved with Calacatta Portugal marble. Characterised by swirls of neutral tones in grey, cream and brown, this marble is brought to life through its exquisite detail. Silver Moon marble is another example of a beautifully detailed marble that will make a statement without overpowering an interior scheme. Filled with wonderful veining and markings all in similar tones and shades, this marble is both all-at-once breathtaking and easy to work with.
Classic Italian White Marble
As is so often the case, when you think of marble you instantly think of Italy. One of the most well-known regions, the marble from Carrara has been considered some of the most luxurious marble for centuries and can be found all over the world. From Statuary and Arabescato Corchia to Calacatta and Arabescato Vagli, there are so many varieties to choose from.
At Cullifords, we combine our technical and artistic skill, finessed over generations, to provide some of the highest quality Italian marble in the UK.
Italian white marble is what you would consider a ‘classic’ marble as a layman. The different types offer you different depths of veining but it is essentially a white background decorated with beautiful grey and black veining in different weights and patterns. Perfect for creating a luxurious bathroom or for a statement kitchen island worktop, you can’t go wrong with a beautiful white Italian marble slab.
Colourful Marble
Whilst white might be a lot of designers’ and homeowners’ ‘go-to’ when it comes to marble, there are also a wide variety of beautiful coloured marbles. From pink and purple to green and blue, interiors can be brought to life with a wonderfully colourful marble slab.
An exceptional blend of white, blue, black, red and pink, the stunning dark yet colourful Rosso Luana marble looks almost as if it has been printed. A unique wave-like pattern emanates from the surface, resulting in a truly extraordinary appearance.
There is a wide range of green marbles as well. Verde Luana is characterised by a wonderous blend of thin swirls of light and dark green and white to create a surface that will add a luxury touch, whilst White Beauty adds impact and drama to surfaces through big bold patterns of green, black and white.
Dark Marble
Marble can add drama and character to an interior scheme. Black marbles with gold veining are extremely popular, in particular within hospitality settings as they will make a true design statement.
Paired with contemporary fittings and brass details, Confusion Dark marble’s bold gold veining sits on a background of black, dark red and hints of white to create a truly one-of-a-kind statement. A dark yet pared-back marble, Black Forest features a lighter grey veining that will complement modern black ceramics and gold brassware with ease.
This is just a glimpse of what the world of marble has to offer. If you’re just embarking on your project and aren’t sure what marble you’d like, take a look at our current stock, or get in touch with us to arrange a visit to our yard, you won’t be disappointed! Â
