The year of 2020 was definitely one focused heavily on the idea of wellness and self-care. From de-cluttering homes to creating tranquil sanctuaries, nowhere was this trend more present that in the bathroom. As we move into 2021, there are a number of interior trends that continuing to remain prevalent in addition to a few new, exciting trends. Let’s take a look at what we think will be big in the bathroom in 2021…
Mad for Marble
Whilst marble being popular in the bathroom might not be a surprise, 2021 should see an increasing interest in impressive uses of this ever-popular surface choice. Something we have noticed being requested more is a darker, more detailed veining in a white marble surface. Arabescato Corchia and Calacatta Viola are perfect examples of this – making a truly luxurious marble statement across bathroom surfaces and becoming almost a piece of wall art, a stunning backdrop to the room’s overall interior design.
Glorious Green
Forest green, emerald green, turquoise, sage green… our love affair with green is growing and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down! A popular choice for kitchens (see our kitchen trends blog!), green is also making its way into our bathrooms. A calming and restful colour, green surfaces come in numerous patterns, colours and finishes, making it an extremely versatile colour choice and one that can be easily incorporated into any type of bathroom scheme. From the exquisitely eye-catching ripples in White Beauty marble to the beautifully detailed brecciated pattern of Marinace Verde granite, there are so many ways to get creative with green surfaces in the bathroom.
Spa-like Sanctuaries
Having spent so much more time at home, homeowners have sought to create their very own spa-like retreats – somewhere they can escape the day’s stresses of working from the home office. This trend has directly translated into bathroom design. Tying in with the desire to create a clutter-free aesthetic, opting for ‘full coverage’ surfaces will become increasingly popular. Crema Marfil is a subtly coloured marble that provides a feeling of luxury. The gentle cream and beige veining looks exquisite next to a pared-back spa-like setting, ideal for evoking a sense of tranquillity and calm.
Statement Splashbacks
A trend that has taken the kitchen world by storm, statement splashbacks are now making their way into bathrooms in a big and bold way. Creating truly unique focal points, feature splashbacks behind the basin areas can add a beautiful wow factor to the bathroom. Often the perfect chance to be a bit more experimental with your surface choice, we foresee an increase in distinctive and bold surfaces adorning bathroom splashbacks for the year ahead, whether that’s a magnificent pink or a wonderfully eye-catching blue!
Wow-factor Walls
Feature walls can act as the ideal backdrop in the bathroom. With many homeowners wanting to put their own stamp on their interiors, the trend for making braver and bolder choices with walls is set to grow throughout 2021. From mesmerising colourful marbles to luxurious brecciated granites, we’re excited to see the more distinctive design choices homeowners and interior designers will be making in the bathroom.
