Wild Chianti

Brazilian Granite Slab

Wild Chianti is a dramatic Brazilian granite celebrated for its bold mineral movement, wine‑toned veining and richly layered colour palette. Despite its Italian‑sounding name, the stone is quarried in Brazil, where complex metamorphic geology produces these highly expressive, multi‑coloured exotic materials. Its swirling ribbons of burgundy, plum, olive green, charcoal and sandy gold create a surface full of depth and natural character, making it ideal for kitchens, islands, worktops, bathroom vanities and architectural feature pieces.

Wild Chianti represents the current, more accessible selection from a quarry that once produced the well‑known Wild West Granite. The greener section of the quarry — historically responsible for the more vivid “Wild West Green” and “Verde Chianti” tones — has become increasingly scarce, with that part of the deposit now largely exhausted and no longer yielding structurally reliable large blocks. Wild Chianti therefore reflects the modern, stable, premium portion of the quarry still producing high‑quality slabs suitable for interior use.

Geologically, Wild Chianti is an exotic migmatite, formed under intense tectonic heat and pressure that folded quartz, feldspar, amphiboles, iron oxides and mica into dramatic, river‑like waves. Quartz provides the glassy luminosity; feldspar builds the creamy, sandy base; amphiboles and chlorite introduce olive‑green bands; iron oxides add rust‑gold warmth; and mica traces subtle reflective highlights across the surface. The result is a stone with exceptional visual movement and a naturally robust composition.
